Lucy arrives in China

First stop for Lucy is the Hong Kong terriority, where her and Chi met up with aunts, uncles and cousins. Here are some of Lucy's cousins at play. Her relatives live in Hong Kong, Lok Fu and Ma On Shan (maps). While visiting relatives in the small village were she was born, Lucy ran into an old classmate from elementary school, who still recognized her. Her classmante, Di Ling , organized a lunch reunion with the teacher (in red) and all the old classmates she could find. Wow. Next Lucy was off to Beijing for her law school summer session -- she flew from Shenzhen to Beijing. Here she met many new classmates and professors. Here the students studied comparative law between the US and China. They visited the Chinese Supreme Court -- in the Chinese system there are separate divisions within the supreme court for different aspects of the law. The justices are seated in the center of this picture ( one woman and two men in suits). They also went to the Foreign Ministry building and learned about establishing foreign joint ventures in China. Earlier this year this was the site of historic meetings between the World Trade Organization and China concerning China's membership. Seated is Mr. Xia, a professor at UIBE and one of the chief organizers of the summer session, and two madame chairpersons of the Foreign Ministry. On one of their evenings out Lucy and some of the other students went to an acrobatic show. Continue
