The idea of the trip began when Lucy had an opportunity through her
Law School to attend a two week summer session in Beijing. It seemed
like an excellent chance for Lucy to visit relatives and for Curt to
see China for the first time.
We really needed a vacation. The plan was for Lucy and her brother, Chi, to leave first and visit aunts, uncles and cousins in the greater Hong Kong area and nearby China mainland. After about a week Lucy flew from Shenzhen ( Hong Kong / China border city ) to Beijing to attend her summer school session. After two weeks Curt left San Francisco and met Chi in Hong Kong. Then Curt, Chi and an assortment of cousins took a train north to meet Lucy in Beijing.
Five days later we all took the train back south to Hong Kong, where we
spent the remaining 6 days of our trip. Then Lucy and Curt flew back to
San Francisco, refreshed, tired and with a new perspective on living. |
